Okay, so it might not SOUND like a big deal, BUT when you clean the floors first with clutter in the way, then move the clutter (and along with it, the dust) you are simply throwing dust all over your freshly cleaned floor! Yikes!

We suggest starting with cleaning the clutter from a room, move things back to where they belong, then start at the top! (Yes, that includes that dust-covered ceiling fan) Work your way down to the floors, finishing the room off! It makes a big difference on how much time you spend and how clean your room will be after you are finished! Sparkly clean, top to bottom!

Cleaning Mistake #2

Using appropriate cleaning supplies is not only important for getting the job done right, but it can also keep your home items from getting damaged. From clothes to granite countertops, there are a TON of cleaning products that are meant to do that specific job for a reason. You can damage your countertops and stainless steel using the wrong items, as well as your clothes and linens!

We suggest always using the right “tool” for the job (sponges, cleaners, brushes, ect) and you will always be left with a pristine, and more importantly, undamaged finish!

Cleaning Mistake #3

Most people think that a sunny warm day is perfect for window cleaning… and they’d be wrong! (What!?) That’s right! Bright sunshine makes window cleaner evaporate, leaving streaks if you don’t wipe it off super quick before it has a chance to dry.

We suggest picking a less sunny day, perhaps even a bit cooler, for window cleaning. Doing it this way will help your windows be streak-free, as the cooler temps will give you plenty of time to clean away your window cleaner without drying into streaks!

Cleaning something with a dirty rag makes no sense, right? Well, neither does cleaning with a dirty sponge, a dirty vacuum, a dirty dishwasher or washing machine. The idea is that the tools you are using to clean remain clean!

We suggest that if you haven’t set that dishwasher to self-clean and checked your filter, now is the time! Clean up that dusty vacuum! Wash those cleaning rags! Also, throw out that gross sponge and grab a new one. These things make a huge difference in the outcome of cleaning your home (AND the longevity of your cleaning appliances) than you think!

We know… Between the kids, the chores, work, the yard, home maintenance, your to-do list and the millions of other things you have on the go, it’s hard to stick to a schedule. Especially when cleaning is something easily pushed off till “later”. BUT the truth is it is easier to lightly clean every week than it is to have to deep clean a hot mess once a month. You will spend less time because there is less to deal with.

We suggest you start by keeping a short and simple list of the things around your home to tidy on the regular, see how that goes and then add a few more as you find yourself getting it done!

OR, of course, you can skip all of this and simply hire us! (Hint hint) Get your estimate today and see what it might be worth for you to save a little of your sanity!

And that’s it! We hope that you get something out of these sanity saving tips.

Until next time…
